response to Clinton and Obama visit to plymouth
With out a doubt our Plymouth community has been very fortunate to have what sees to be the two front runners for the democratic nomination visit us. I was not impressed with what either had to say thought even though they are both very good publiuc speakers, both of their messages were weak . They just seemed to be very vague on how they will acomplish their plans with Health Care and Iraq. Actually Mrs. Clinton didnt even speak about those two issues. She spoke of how we , as college students , will benefit and giving more kids the oppurtunity to go to college. I guess as college students we must not care about Health care or the war in Iraq or arent important enough to talk about major issues. She didnt even really mention plans for either in her speech. Those are the things are a major concern to our country and me. I felt it was slap to our community by not speaking on such issues, that we must not be that important to her . Mr. Obama does give great promise but I dont trust that he gave us enough reasons to believe him and his ability to deliever Health care and an end to Iraq. I just believe that both of them left a great deal of holes and questions, and Mrs. Clinton should have atleast allowed for the topics of Health care and Iraq to be addressed. I think people that waited outside of the Hub wanted these issues addressed.

I agree with your comments on both, Hilary Clinton and Obama's speeches. I think that both candidates "dumb" down both of their speeches because they were in a college environment, which concerns me because we are the future of this country and if they cannot talk about the topics that we worry about the most, health care, the war, social security, then how are we ever going to run our country correctly or even vote with any insight if no one will really give us their stances on anything. They like all candidates said what they wanted us to hear and I feel that Obama was promising a lot of things that sound wonderful, but is he going to be able to do it? As a person he may want to fix everything but he needs people in the government to back his plans as well. All in all I think that most of our candidates are leaving us with a lot to be desired.
Although, I would have enjoyed Senator Clinton to discuss her health care program, her stance on Iraq, or the plethora of issues that Presidential Candidates must be quizzed on at every turn. Senator Clinton’s speech centered on the topic of her Higher Education Plan, because she unveiled it here—that is why her speech was focused on education.
Your statement “I guess as college students we must not care about Health care or the war in Iraq or arent important enough to talk about major issues,” is not an accurate statement to make. I think it is important to remember that the Presidential Candidates are zipping around cities and states. I am sure that if the Candidates could spend hours at a stop on trail they would, as much I would have loved to pick Hillary and Obama’s brains about their plans, it important to realize that is a dream, whereas, we must think in reality.
Check out http://hillaryclinton.com/issues/ and http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/ to see their stances on issues. Also check youtube.com for debates, there have been many college-aged people that have asked questions.
